Sailing around the Balearic Islands.
After you have been visiting all the lovely bays, coves and beaches that Mallorca has to offer, you might consider another adventure. To start with there are a few more places and islands within close range of Mallorca that you can visit for a weekend trip or a weekly tour. Here are a few tips;
The Island of Menorca just northeast of Mallorca is a family friendly and beautiful Island to visit. It has a lovely coastline and the landscape is gorgeous. Nice beaches for the children with easy anchoring. The winds can be changing quickly but mainly in wintertime.
Ibiza is another popular destination and the island is slightly smaller than Majorca. It’s easy to understand why people want to discover the island’s diverse coastline by sailing boat. Here are caves, small picturesque bays, golden sandy beaches and crazy blue water. Cala Verdella is one of my favorites. The atmosphere is higher on the island’s south side, well known for its wild nightlife. On the north side it is the other way around very relaxed and bohemian. Very much like the neighboring island of Formentera just south of Ibiza.
Formentera is the second home of the rich and famous with a very relaxed and chic atmosphere. It is not exploited like Ibiza and Mallorca and therefore it has a very beautiful landscape and nature without and larger hotel complex and so on. It is easy to sail around Formentera but be aware of rocks and shallow water between Ibiza and the island. Do not forget to visit Cala Sahona for great snorkeling.
